The History Group was formed several years ago to study, preserve and share the history of Bamford and the surrounding areas including Bamford, Thornhill, Derwent, Ashopton and Hope Woodlands.  

• We hold monthly meetings, usually on the second Friday night in the month, depending on the availability of speakers and we also arrange visits to places of interest in the summer.
• We arrange exhibitions, events and visits to places of interest.
• We study the history of our area through projects and activities.
• We preserve and collect local records and documents.

We are a friendly group and welcome new members.  Our meetings are open to Institute Members and Non-Members.  If you are interested in any aspect of local history research do get in touch.
