The Sheffield Blitz: Janet Ridler

This took place in December 1940 when the German Luftwaffe targeted the industrial areas and steelworks of Sheffield. Over 600 people were killed and many more injured in this operation whose aim was to stop production of armaments. German code name for the operation was ‘Schmelztiegel’ (Crucible).
